Packaging Engineer

Summary: This position is primarily responsible for the design and development of Cross’s product packaging. Responsibilities include proactive participation in cross-functional product development teams to understand and communicate the packaging options available and to make the appropriate choices. Contributes to the conception and development and leads the implementation of new product packaging and modifications to current packaging. Plans and coordinates projects to develop new or modified packaging. Works directly with Marketing to develop and specify point of purchase displays and promotional materials. The primary results of these efforts will be attractive, high-quality, cost-effective product packaging
Responsibilities:
  • Defines a comprehensive packaging development plan and schedule by gaining an understanding of marketing’s advertising and time objectives.
  • Teams with Marketing, industrial designers, external design firms, engineering, and manufacturing to design and develop product that optimizes packaging value that meets customer requirements.
  • Works with Operations and Distribution to specify materials and recommend equipment and processes for packages, platforms, sleeves, labels, shipping cartons and the like.
  • Keeps abreast of new and changing technologies, specific competitive activity and supplier capabilities that are applicable to Cross’s product engineering objectives.
  • Estimate time, capital, expenses and manpower required for completion of packaging-related projects. Ensures that projects are completed timely and in adherence to department budgets.
  • Communicates package status and highlights issues to appropriate project teams in a timely, clear, and concise manner to ensure quick turnaround times and the best solution is recommended.
  • Work with internal and external customers to develop POP displays and support materials.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5 years of experience, preferably in consumer product packaging.
  • Must be able to design plastic, metal and paper packaging components for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of packaging related quality standards, design material, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent project management skills are required to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Technical skills including 3D design and Microsoft Office are essential requirements for the position.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment in a cross-functional setting.

Project Engineer

Summary: This position is responsible for working with cross-functional new product development teams in developing new projects, as well as maintaining and communicating the development schedules for projects and programs. The incumbent will coordinate activities concerning engineering changes such as drawings and specifications, and assure proper routing of all such documents. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including some level of; manufacturing assembly, injection molding, decorative coating, electroplating, and engineering analysis, will be key to success in this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops, directs and maintains project schedules and program tracking system for all new product deliverables. Clearly communicates and reports the status of all activities on a weekly or as needed basis.
  • Formulates and develops technical solutions to support new product initiatives, new processes, and new technology initiates. Works with the engineering team to analyze, evaluate, and resolve all technical issues.
  • Clearly documents all new and existing processes, procedures, and engineering changes.
  • Teams with the Cross factory to develop high quality and stable manufacturing processes.
  • Provides technical expertise to the new product development team. Responsible to manage projects and suppliers by utilizing company policies and procedures.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to deliver new product programs on time.
  • Lead and communicate the status of New Product programs from Corporate to our Cross China factory.
  • Direct, motivate, and constructively advises Cross’s global suppliers and partners with technical direction.
  • Participates in team activities leading to establishing sound design principles and manufacturing processes.
  • Implements corrective actions in a team atmosphere by understanding manufacturing constraints and desired quality requirements
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Three years of appropriate technical experience and demonstrated competence in project management.
  • Experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to create and update project schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Ability and desire to remain knowledgeable and current in product design, materials, and finishes.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and design tools, for example: Process Capability Studies, Six Sigma Practices, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and Quality Functional Deployment.
  • Working knowledge of 3D design software, preferably ProEngineer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Sales Representative

Summary: This position is responsible to open new retail distribution in the Jewelry channel. Typical prospection process starts with telephone calls (average 150-200 per week) then email follow-up. Once a lead is confirmed, if needed the sales rep might travel to the account to finalize the deal. As much as possible meetings need to be clustered in the same geographical region for travel efficiency. Target markets are highly populated and high household income areas such as: Northeast corridor, California, Seattle, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Atlanta, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Denver, and Portland OR. Another responsibility will be to manage regional sales groups such as the NYC/NJ area. Those groups need to have clear and tight guidance on assortments they can sell, brand positioning and strategy per channel. There might be some existing accounts that could be transferred. This position will report to the Head of Global Travel Retail.
Responsibilities:
  • Retain knowledge and understanding of CROSS products, policies practices and procedures and the ability to relate to all areas and management levels.
  • Travels to customers and potential customer facilities, providing them with information and support as required to achieve new sales or re-occurring sales in order to achieve sales targets as established by the Retail Sales Division.
  • Merchandises product in retail outlets to ensure CROSS product and merchandise is displayed appropriately to appeal to customers and maximize potential sales opportunities.
  • Manage all leads/prospects in salesforce.com.
  • Communicates customer requirements and requests support from internal sales support personnel in order to achieve sales objectives.
  • Assist in territory coverage plan to define type and frequency of customer support needed to meet sales goals.
Requirements:
  • 1 to 3 years of sales experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Sales Representative / Midwest Region / Business Gift Division

Summary: This position is responsible for managing our business gift distribution network in the Midwest. States include Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska & Wisconsin. The territory is responsible for roughly 100 accounts, from small distributors up to significant National Accounts. The Sales Representative will be required to travel not only within their region, but to trade shows outside their region from time to time.
