Packaging Engineer

Summary: This position is primarily responsible for the design and development of Cross’s product packaging. Responsibilities include proactive participation in cross-functional product development teams to understand and communicate the packaging options available and to make the appropriate choices. Contributes to the conception and development and leads the implementation of new product packaging and modifications to current packaging. Plans and coordinates projects to develop new or modified packaging. Works directly with Marketing to develop and specify point of purchase displays and promotional materials. Responsibilities:
  • Defines a comprehensive packaging development plan and schedule by gaining an understanding of marketing’s advertising and time objectives.
  • Teams with Marketing, industrial designers, external design firms, engineering, and manufacturing to design and develop product that optimizes packaging value that meets customer requirements.
  • Works with Operations and Distribution to specify materials and recommend equipment and processes for packages, platforms, sleeves, labels, shipping cartons and the like.
  • Keeps abreast of new and changing technologies, specific competitive activity and supplier capabilities that are applicable to Cross’s product engineering objectives.
  • Estimate time, capital, expenses and manpower required for completion of packaging-related projects. Ensures that projects are completed timely and in adherence to department budgets.
  • Communicates package status and highlights issues to appropriate project teams in a timely, clear, and concise manner to ensure quick turnaround times and the best solution is recommended.
  • Work with internal and external customers to develop POP displays and support materials.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5 years of experience, preferably in consumer product packaging.
  • Must be able to design plastic, metal and paper packaging components for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of packaging related quality standards, design material, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent project management skills are required to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Technical skills including 3D design and Microsoft Office are essential requirements for the position.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment in a cross-functional setting.

Project Engineer

Summary: This position is responsible for working with cross-functional new product development teams in developing new projects, as well as maintaining and communicating the development schedules for projects and programs. The incumbent will coordinate activities concerning engineering changes such as drawings and specifications, and assure proper routing of all such documents. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including some level of; manufacturing assembly, injection molding, decorative coating, electroplating, and engineering analysis, will be key to success in this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops, directs and maintains project schedules and program tracking system for all new product deliverables. Clearly communicates and reports the status of all activities on a weekly or as needed basis.
  • Formulates and develops technical solutions to support new product initiatives, new processes, and new technology initiates. Works with the engineering team to analyze, evaluate, and resolve all technical issues.
  • Clearly documents all new and existing processes, procedures, and engineering changes.
  • Teams with the Cross factory to develop high quality and stable manufacturing processes.

  • Lead and communicate the status of New Product programs from Corporate to our Cross China factory.
  • Direct, motivate, and constructively advises Cross’s global suppliers and partners with technical direction.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Three years of appropriate technical experience and demonstrated competence in project management.

  • Ability to create and update project schedules in Microsoft Project.
  • Ability and desire to remain knowledgeable and current in product design, materials, and finishes.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and design tools, for example: Process Capability Studies, Six Sigma Practices, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and Quality Functional Deployment.

Service Representative

Summary: The Service Representative is the responsible for processing Domestic and International repairs covered under the lifetime mechanical guarantee. This position is accountable for the timely, efficient, and courteous servicing of returns and inquiries for all product lines. This will be accomplished by refurbishing merchandise returned for repair and by insuring the customer’s personal writing instrument is returned in good working condition. The Service Representative may act as the liaison between the customer and the Company. This position is responsible to act as a resource center for external and internal customer needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Processes 60 – 70 customer returns daily through written and verbal communications interpreting and applying company department policies and procedures. Determines the final disposition of the product using discretion. Thorough knowledge of all Cross products and service capabilities.
  • Knowledge of company and department specific policies and procedures.
  • Understanding the order fulfillment process from receipt to delivery, and the order entry system, Mac-Pac.
  • Direct inquiries and complaints received on a daily basis concerning product performance, product failure, and product introductions, to the appropriate department.
  • The position is accountable to determine whether the product received from the customer is repairable. Interpreting customer correspondence (handwritten or typed) is a critical function of the position.
  • Customer contact may be made if correspondence is unclear. Excellent skills in communication (written and verbal) are required as well as professional telephone contact with customers.
  • Math skills are required to calculate product and shipping charges.
  • Decision making and problem solving skills are necessary to resolve difficult customer problems in keeping with the high Cross quality standards for customer service and satisfaction.
  • This position requires the ability to operate hand tools as well as table top machinery to repair units (assemble & disassemble). A high level of organization and time management skills is essential to keep pace with a challenging, and changing environment.

Inside Sales Representative

Summary: The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for inside sales coverage to selected accounts via telephone, performing all functions of account management normally assumed by a field representative. The potential growth proposed for these accounts as well as how much actual growth is achieved will be the responsibility of the Special Markets Inside Sales Representative and the Sr. Manager. Responsibilities:

  • Work with guest accounts to ensure prompt an exceptional service by working with the distributor to understand product pricing and secure orders and manage the order process form sales to shipment.
  • Prepare artwork by downloading and converting files for use by internal departments and for orders.
  • Travel to select accounts, sales meetings and trade shows as directed by management.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of sales, marketing, and / or customer service experience is required.
  • Sales skills with the ability to work within tight deadlines and maintain accuracy are essential to this position.
  • Ability to establish and prioritize multiple projects is critical.
  • Understanding of the U.S. Sales and Marketing policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Attention to detail within the customer’s needs and strong negotiating skills are required.

Trade Marketing Coordinator

Customer Support Services Coordinator, International

Summary: The Customer Support Services Coordinator, International is responsible to assist with the order processing of products, repairs, and the coordination of large shipments between customer, customs, freight forwarder and outside 3PL. These actions will assist international managers, subsidiaries, Latin American distributors, Retail, and Duty Free accounts. The role will also support marketing and sales programs and related activities between the company and the account. This position is responsible for compliance and implementation of procedures necessary to process and communicate customer pricing/banking/government/credit issues as they relate to order processing.
Responsibilities:
  • Accepts and processes direct Retail, Dealer, LA distributor, subsidiary, or duty free customer purchase orders submitted via E-mail, fax, postal mail, and telephone.
  • Assists with the coordination and implementation of marketing and sales programs and related activities. Communicates promotional programs, new product additions, discontinuations and administrative changes.
  • Responds to, communicates, and administers company policies on dating of merchandise, merchandise returns, and related credits.
  • Ensures accurate and timely customer order fulfillment, backorder management, shipping and billing error resolution, and product returns.
  • Assists the credit department with freight forwarding, customer pricing, and customs.
  • Assists in researching customer issued debt notes and charge-backs. Places direct no-charge orders and facilitate the shipment of samples to respective subsidiaries.
  • Monitors product returns and service repair orders according to policy and procedure. Ensures that all information, documentation, detail, and pricing are correct before processing credit memos.
  • Additional responsibilities as directed.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree with 3 years of experience in a customer support role, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include telephone and face-to-face interaction with fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
