ENGLAND -- Partnership Combines Great Authors and Great Writing Instruments at Writing
Baseball: Great Writers on the Greatest Game --
Lincoln, RI, June 2, 2005-- – A.T. Cross Company
(AMEX: ATX - news) will celebrate some of the greatest authors in the region at
PEN New England’s Writing Baseball: Great Writers on the Greatest Game on June 6,
2005 at Boston’s Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox. This historic event
will include a panel discussion featuring great writers Roger Angell, Doris Kearns
Goodwin, Stephen King, Michael Lewis, and John Updike that explores the connection
between baseball and writing, and why this most literary of sports regularly inspires
great writing. One of Cross’ premier products, the Cyanic Blue Lacquer ATX® Selectip®
rolling ball pen will be the official pen for Writing Baseball.
PEN New England is one of five regional branches of PEN American Center, which in
turn is part of International PEN, the only worldwide organization of writing professionals
(Poets/Playwrights, Essayists/Editors, Novelists/Nonfiction writers – PEN).
Other well-known New England authors in attendance at Writing Baseball include Sue
Miller, Perri Klass, Andre Dubus, Dennis Lehane, and special guest Leslie Epstein,
head of the Creative Writing program at Boston University. The words “play ball”
may never be the same after this important event.
“This event celebrates the fact that fine writing and fine writing instruments go
hand-in-hand,” said Bruce Willox, Director of Global Marketing at A.T. Cross. He
continued, “Our proud tradition of innovation and excellence parallels PEN’s tradition
of excellent writing. This association is a gratifying collaboration, and we look
forward to continuing to build upon this relationship.”
Nancy Upper, Executive Liaison for PEN New England added,” The combination of A.T.
Cross’ great writing instruments and the great writers we celebrate is the definition
of a perfect partnership. We are delighted to celebrate this historic event together.”
The Cross ATX collection is considered to be a true masterwork. The ATX has bold,
sweeping lines and an innovative, rounded clip. Its smooth, contoured look and seamless
design embrace the future while defining this pen as a timeless beauty. The deep,
blue-tinted lacquer in this version allows light to reflect off the brushed metal
base for an intriguing, mysterious look. Rhodium and chrome-plated appointments
provide an elegant contrast to the finish. PEN writers at this event will surely
agree, the Cross ATX is the professional’s choice for a contemporary, fashionable
pen.
The Cynanic Blue Lacquer ATX is available in ball-point pen, Selectip rolling ball
pen, and fountain pen versions as well as a 0.5mm pencil at MSRP of $55 to $110
here, the two Cross retail stores in Massachusetts; Harvard Square, Cambridge
and the Mall at Chestnut Hill, and retail stores nationwide.
