CROSS NAMED OFFICAL PEN OF THE 2006 BANK OF AMERICA
CHAMPIONSHIP
Cross, the American maker of fine writing instruments and accessories, has signed
on as the Official Pen of the 2006 Bank of America Championship. This tournament,
the premier event on the PGA’s Champions Tour, features the legends of golf competing
for a $1.6 million purse in one of the largest spectator sporting events in New
England. The Championship will be held from June 5-11 at the Nashawtuc Country Club
in Concord, Massachusetts.
Fans will be able to greet some of the biggest names in golf at Cross Autograph
Avenue, just steps from the eighteenth hole. Pack your favorite Cross pen and meet
these titans of golf, legends such as Tom Kite, Curtis Strange, Craig Stadler and
Hale Irwin, as they finish play and sign autographs for the crowd.
The week of events will include twelve Major League Baseball celebrities, such as
Hall of Famer Johnny Bench, playing alongside the golf champions in a special “Swing
with the Legends Tournament.” Eighteen top comics from the region will also join
these baseball greats in pro-am events. On Saturday Lenny Clarke, performing with
a cast of comedians, will host Hilarity for Charity – a stand-up comedy show. The
Bank of America Championship will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars for
local charities, including Boys & Girls Clubs, The Genesis Fund, and The First Tee
of Massachusetts.
This is the first sponsorship appearance at the Bank of America Championship for
Cross, the venerable 160-year old firm. Cross operates two stores in the Boston
area, in the Chestnut Hill Mall and in Harvard Square.
