CROSS® C-SERIES PEN BRINGS NEW BEAUTY TO INDUSTRIAL
DESIGN WITH AUTO-INSPIRED STYLING
Passionate about purposeful design, CROSS introduces its new C-Series writing instrument,
a bold new silhouette inspired by the engineering and artistry of spectacular cars.
Much like automobiles that are an intrinsic part of daily existence, writing instruments
serve as dependable models of functional style – the best ones embracing both a
high caliber of technical performance and visual interest. Influenced by the engineers
and the stylists who perfected the finest automobiles, CROSS developed the C-Series
pen over the course of approximately two years. Every element, from the body and
ornamentation of the pen to its essential mechanics, has been carefully designed
in tribute to the mission of those great auto designers whose focus on aesthetics
was matched by a functional need, whether it was for ultimate speed, efficiency,
or comfort.
The C-Series pen similarly strikes this dynamic balance of style and substance:
a handsome aesthetic matched with the latest advancement in technology. This contemporary,
capless rolling ball pen with its distinctive design allows the user to adjust the
pen from a rolling ball to a ballpoint. This pen delivers extraordinary performance
and versatility like the finely tuned engine of a racecar. The C-Series is available
in this combination Selectip® rolling ball/ballpoint model or as a fountain pen.
With a wide body and tapered ends, the modern C-Series pen attracts with a sense
of strength yet utility. The perforated detail on select styles echoes the leather
details of vintage cars, assuring a comfortable grip. On these models, the machine
art finish is dramatically rendered in tones of Champagne, Carbon Black, and Monaco
Blue. A powder-coated Performance Black model (without perforation styling) offers
a smooth finish that is reminiscent of rubber.
The chrome appointments at the top and bottom of the pen resemble the faceted style
of lug nuts. The thumb grip clip with a hinge evocative of a hex nut is designed
with some pivoting capability to help affix the pen to a pocket or paper. The chiseled
look of the company’s name on the clip is inspired by a machined cast engine block.
Even the center ring on the C-series pen mirrors the mechanical components on magnificent
machines where the details fascinate as much as the form.
Certain to transport you as you fulfill your daily writing tasks, the new C-Series
writing instruments debut in March 2009 at CROSS stores, online at www.cross.com,
and at select retailers. The C-Series pen is backed by a lifetime mechanical guarantee,
as with all CROSS writing instruments.
Suggested retail prices range from $90 for the capless combined rolling ball/ballpoint
styles (fitted with gel roller ball and jumbo ballpoint cartridges) to $160 for
the C-Series fountain pens with twist-off caps.
