CSS Rep, Special Markets

Summary: This position is the A. T. CROSS Company corporate focal point of contact for all direct Domestic Special Markets accounts and sales representatives relating to their purchase orders and/or related business issues. The incumbent may be directly responsible for handling the specific customer issue or may act as a facilitator between the customer and/or sales representative and other internal corporate functions regarding the matter; however, the incumbent is responsible to ensure the matter has been satisfactorily addressed with the customer in a timely manner. Duties include direct customer purchase order acceptance and processing (stock/decorated product), communication and administration of company policies on pricing, dating, merchandise returns, and related credits. The incumbent serves as liaison between our direct customers and the A.T. CROSS Company (all internal functions affecting the administration of direct customer order activity). The incumbent is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate customer order fulfillment, backlog management, shipping and billing error problem resolution, authorizing product returns, and responding correctly and timely to customer inquiries
Specifications: Duties require a thorough knowledge of the A.T. CROSS Company product line and Special Markets decoration services, policies, procedures, and programs, understanding of the customer order fulfillment process (from receipt through delivery), and our order entry system. This knowledge and understanding is required in order to make sound decisions that can affect customer satisfaction and company revenue. Must possess the ability to work effectively with customers to thoroughly understand their decoration requirements and translate those requirements to manufacturing to assure the product output is exactly to customer specifications. A high level of detail and design orientation and focus is required due to the uniqueness of customer decoration requirements. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are essential to courteously and tactfully handle customer issues and provide the best customer service possible. Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to establish priorities, research and resolve problems, follow through timely on customer inquiries, and function effectively in a fast-paced work environment and under time constraints is essential to this position. Seasonal peaks, new product introductions, and price changes result in added demands and increased workload throughout the year which may require overtime. The ability to become PC (Personal Computer) proficient for order entry, customer communication, and job efficiency purposes is required. Some college experience is highly desirable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Acceptance (on behalf of the A.T. CROSS Company and according to Domestic Special Markets Sales Division policies and procedures) and processing of direct customer purchase orders or change-orders submitted via Fax, Mail, and telephone by domestic Special Markets accounts and CROSS Sales Representatives. These orders are usually for decorated product, occasionally for standard product, or may include product variations. The incumbent must accurately translate the customer requirement (must possess thorough knowledge of each order type and its specifications, CROSS’ decoration abilities) to our Manufacturing/Shipping functions. This requires proactive communications in a professional and positive manner with the customer and/or sales representative and internal design and manufacturing group to clarify purchase order requirements, advise of product availability, or shipping delays.
  • Recognize, prioritize, and expedite direct customer purchase orders in critical delivery situations through the order fulfillment process (from receipt through delivery) to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Respond accurately and timely to customer and sales representative inquiries regarding orders, billing issues, credits, and/or products. Written communication may be required in response to these inquiries.
  • Research and resolve customer order problem issues (pre-and post-shipment) such as shipping and/or billing discrepancies, decoration discrepancies, lost shipments, proofs of delivery. This requires courteous and tactful communications with the customer to clearly understand the problem and bring it to a timely and agreeable resolution.
  • Authorizes product returns according to policy and procedure and ensures that all information, documentation, detail, and pricing are correct prior to the processing of the credit memo.
  • Assists in the training of new sales representatives during their corporate in-house orientation to review Retail Division customer support policies and procedures.
  • Prepares vendor supplied company profile forms as requested by customers and/or sales representatives.
  • Performs other duties or assignments as directed by department management.
Qualifications - Education, Licensing, Certification, and Experience:
  • Associates Degree or higher
  • 3-5 years experience in Customer Support Services preferably in a retail environment
  • Understanding of customer order fulfillment process and our order entry system
  • A high level of detail, design orientation and focus is required due to uniqueness of customer artwork decoration and special order requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential to courteously and tactfully handle customer issues, speaking with our manufacturing floor in China, or freight carrier
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to establish priorities, research and resolve problems, follow through timely on customer inquiries, and function effectively in fast-paced work environment within required time restraints
  • Occasional overtime due to business needs may be required during the year (some holidays)
  • PC and order entry skills helpful
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet
  • Strong Excel skills is required
  • Ability to report, analyze and explain reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include telephone and face-to-face interaction skills, and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and discretion on all job related information
  • Ability to work closely and productively with a wide-variety of personalities and professional disciplines.
  • Ability to independently organize, troubleshoot, problem solve and complete work in a quick and efficient manner.

Design Engineer/Project Manager

Specifications: The Manager of Design Engineering is responsible for the development of quality writing instruments and other Cross products, accessories, concepts, and designs. This position is responsible for the design and continuous improvement of a complete world class product from concept through product introduction, including concept generation, preliminary design, models, testing, tooling, and pilot production. Engineering product development processes are performed concurrently and seamlessly with those of the Industrial Design and Marketing departments.

Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline
  • Minimum 3 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience
  • Strong background in product design, innovation, invention, and creati
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively within a product development team environment across several departments (industrial design, engineering, china manufacturing, marketing, sales, finance, etc)
  • In-depth understanding of the design and manufacturing processes, quality systems, documentation procedures and operational methods related to the engineering and manufacture of high quality consumer products.
  • Proven experience in the design of spun, drawn, stamped, turned, cast metal parts as well as injection molded plastic parts for high volume manufacturing is a plus
  • Working knowledge of modern design and manufacturing tools such as CAD, CNC, FMEA, Design of Experiments, Design for Manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Pro-Engineer/Wildfire and Design/Manufacturing Software
  • Experience with electronic digital tablet/smartphone input devices is a strong plus.
